What is it all about?
Codenvy on-demand workspaces improve workflow and automate developer bootstrapping to supercharge the agile ethos. We make tooling, workspaces and environments consistent across teams. Our workspaces enable developers and users to collaborate on code before it’s merged allowing anyone, anywhere to contribute to projects without first installing software.
Key Features
* Cloud, Download, and Managed Install your own Codenvy cloud behind your firewall and customize it to your tool chain and processes with Codenvy. Or get started quickly with our hosted cloud at codenvy.com. * Free and Premium Plans Premium plans provide additional scaling for large teams, a higher SLA for support and professional service options. * Better Agile Development Codenvy’s automation eliminates human error from workspace setup empowering every stakeholder, including users, to collaborate on code before it is released. * Built On Open Source Codenvy is built on Eclipse Che - the next-generation IDE from the Eclipse Foundation. Eclipse Che provides universal workspaces, the engine behind letting users getting workspaces anywhere. * Cloud IDE - Codenvy uses Eclipse Che as a no-installation browser IDE accessible from any local or remote device (Codenvy also works with any desktop IDE through SSH). Thin, fast, and beautiful - Che is the IDE our own engineers wanted. The IDE is packaged as cross-browser JavaScript and CSS, hosted as resources cached by browsers. Developers work on isolated workspaces in different browser tabs in parallel (each tab consuming ~100MB of RAM). It's a smoother interactive experience that doesn't suffer blockages from thrashing when the workspace is remote. The tools you expect are there: embedded Orion editor, numerous key bindings, globalized keyboard support, and git / subversion tools including diff. * On-Premises - Codenvy On-Prem can be installed behind the firewall in a datacenter or cloud and connected to an organization’s toolchain and processes. Scalable from 1 to 1000 nodes, the Codenvy system automatically manages the pool of Docker-based machines that power the workspaces. Compute resources and access controls can be applied at the group or user level. To make administration simple, common tasks like software updating, database backup and system monitoring are handled automatically. Scaling is equally simple - adding or removing a node to the machine cluster takes ~90 seconds. * Docker Machines An environment is composed of machines powered by Docker or VM. A machine is a runtime whose stack is instantiated by a recipe. Docker is a powerful and convenient implementation of machines providing near-instant activation, copy-on-write file system, and Dockerfile recipes for constructing custom stacks. Launch from our provided images, DockerHub, private registries, or through your own Dockerfiles.
