What is it all about?
Snappy is rapid data compression/decompression. it's purpose to deliver very high speeds. and less focused on compression. Snappy is an significantly faster for most inputs, compared to the fastest mode of zlib. Yet, provides much less compressed file. Within 20% to 100% bigger compared to others.
On a single core of a Core i7 processor runinig in 64-bit mode Snappy's compression speed is 250 MB/s and decompression speed is 500 MB/s.
